Trans-Atlantic online project

Trans-Atlantic online project

After very positive feedback last year, on November 16 the first session of this year’s trans-Atlantic online project took place. Students from BRG St. Martin (classes 6B and 7D) met online with students from Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Florida. This meeting was the kick-off for a series of meetings planned throughout the year. In one hour spent in an online classroom and breakout rooms, students this time had the possibility to get to know each other and talk about school life and personal interest, topics for which they had well prepared in their English classes. Topics planned for future meetings include the analysis of a short story and solving brain games together. That way, Austrian students can apply their English skills to real-life problems and benefit from the glimpse into ‘real life’ at a US high school. Below is the text published in the Dr Phillips newsletter.

 Austria-America CIS Friendship Project

“GrÏ‹ĂŸ Gott” or “Hallo”! November 16th, CIS students in Ms. Powell’s APHG class participated in a Teams Meeting with a school in Villach, Austria. Students introduced themselves and asked questions to one another about the structure of school, extracurricular activities, and family life. The aim of the conference is to help build bridges between the students in both countries and appreciate our differences while recognizing our similarities. We look forward to our next exchange in January.Â
