11 Nov Meeting the US cultural attaché
Von Maximilian Schöller, 6B
On November 7th the classes 6A, 6B and students from the course World History had the opportunity to meet with the cultural attaché from the US embassy in the AK Villach. The attaché gave the students a very informative and interesting presentation, providing them with an overview of the political system in the US and its constitution. A detailed power point presentation illustrated important historical information as well as giving insight into the unique and complex American electoral system.
After the presentation, the students were able to ask questions that concerned or interested them, which could not easily be covered in class or were more complex. Furthermore, the cultural attaché gave his personal insight into the recent election results.
Towards the end, the cultural attaché had a little quiz prepared where he asked three questions and if a student was able to answer correctly, a pin with the Austrian and American flag was given to him or her. All questions were successfully answered. After the quiz the AK had a little buffet prepared which the students enjoyed very much.
It was an overall memorable as well as informative afternoon for all the students and teachers and we were grateful for this unique opportunity.
