During my three-week Erasmus exchange in Avignon, a rather small city in the south of France, I had the opportunity to experience French culture, improve my language skills, and meet many new people.
I stayed with a very friendly host family and attended a local school, where I felt very welcome by everyone. I really enjoyed meeting the other students and getting to know them.
During my stay, I visited many interesting places. In Avignon, I explored the Palais des Papes, the Pont Saint-Bénézet, Les halles market, and the Médiathèque Ceccano. I also witnessed part of the municipal election process. Outside the city, I visited the Carrières des Lumières in Les Baux-de-Provence, an impressive digital art exhibition inside a former quarry. In the Luberon region near Gargas, I walked through the famous ochre cliffs and explored the red rock landscape. In Aix-en-Provence, I took a small train tour and learnt more about the painter Paul Cézanne.
I also spent time doing sports like climbing and going to the gym. I also visited the Camargue, where I visited relatives of my host family. One of the most memorable experiences was spending a night in a small stone house on Mont Ventoux and watching the sunrise from the summit the next morning.
Overall, this Erasmus exchange was an amazing experience. I learnt a lot, discovered beautiful places, and made memories that I will never forget.
