The IBC Parents’ Association: International Bilingual Classes Association (IBCA)

The International Bilingual Classes Association (IBCA) has been set up to support and finance the “bilingual classes” stream of the BG/BRG St. Martin.

All parents whose children attend the IBC stream are automatically full members of the IBCA Parents’ Association. They ensure the financing of bilingual education through their membership fees.

The amount of the membership fees is determined annually. First, the budget is presented by the Association’s Board of Directors at the IBCA’s Annual General Meeting, to which all members are invited. Any increase or decrease in the fees is put to the vote and subsequently imposed on the members.

All of us have at least one child in the bilingual branch. We are enthusiastic about this programme and are convinced that our children are receiving an excellent education.

What makes the Bili branch special and the high quality of this education is the extraordinary commitment of all those involved: the teachers and coordinators on the school side, the native speakers and the children and parents on the other side.

We see the task of the IBCA board as supporting the children, the native speakers and the teachers and coordinators of the bilingual branch – not only by securing the financial means, but also by creating a good basis for communication and a trusting and joyful working and learning environment.

Each of us would like to contribute to this.

IBC Scope of Services

With your IBCA membership fee, you as parents invest in an excellent bilingual education for your children. The following bilingual services are available for less than €2.50 per school day:

  • Additional native English speaking teaching staff: our native speakers with university degrees in the humanities or sciences.
  • English language teaching materials

English-language textbooks, literature and work materials are needed for bilingual teaching. These are not supported by the state textbook campaign.

  • Supplementary courses

The following additional courses are offered by native speakers:

– For the first forms: “Games and role play“

– For the second forms: “Fun with English“

– For the third forms: “Let’s do drama!“

– For the fourth forms: “Let’s do more drama!“

Here you can find further information on the respective courses.

  • Co-funding of the Cambridge Certificates

The IBCA finances the native speakers who prepare the students for the exam together with the teachers. It also pays for the books and half of the examination fees.

  • Specific projects and activities for the bilingual classes

We offer specific projects for the bilingual students, including competitions sponsored by organisations such as Infineon and LAM Research as well as the Villach University of Applied Sciences.

IBC stream for every child

It is important to us that every child who is interested in and eligible for the IBC stream is able to attend.

If the annual membership fee exceeds your financial means, we request that you contact us at chair@ibca-villach.at. We will treat your request confidentially and try to find a solution together.

If you are willing to make it possible for a child who would otherwise not have the chance to attend the bilingual stream, we would be very grateful if you would take on a sponsorship.
