Once again, students of the BG/BRG Villach St. Martin have received the prestigious Cambridge Advanced Certificate as well as the First Certificate in English.

The ceremony for the conferment of the certificates of the Cambridge Advanced/First Certificates was held in the school this year due to the Corona pandemic restrictions which prevented the usual ceremony from taking place at the WIFI testing center in Klagenfurt. The First Certificate in English (FCE) corresponds to the B2 level of the Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR).  The Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) corresponds to the C1 level of the Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR) and is at a higher level than the requirements for the Austrian high school diploma (Matura). The exam serves to demonstrate that the candidates have achieved a high level of English appropriate for further academic and professional pursuits.

This year, a total of 43 students were awarded Cambridge Certificates at the school ceremony. 31 students were from the bilingual classes 8A and 8B and 12 from the classes 8C and 8D. Also, in attendance, on behalf of the IBCA, was Chairman Frank Prämaßing, who, in addition to congratulating the successful students, also presented them with small gifts.
