Computer technology

The teaching of computer technology begins in the first year in all school classes; the subject is compulsory and therefore part of the standard curriculum at our school. It is important that students begin early to familiarize themselves with the use of computers as a means of searching for information and to be introduced to other aspects of computer technology.
In the 1st and 2nd grade, word processing and information technology are equally compulsory for all classes. In the 3rd grade, the content and intensity of the lessons depend on the stream chosen by the students (regular secondary school program or technical secondary program). For more detailed information see the german page.

In addition, students have the possibility to take extra-curricular courses in computer technology which lead to internationally recognised computer science certificates such as ECDL and CISCO. For more detailed information see the german page.

Computer sciences and communication technology are also becoming increasingly important in language teaching (in the form of video conferencing, internet research and inter-active tutorials/exercises), as well as in art and craft lessons (in the form of digital image processing, design and film etc.).

In the upper grades, students have the opportunity to take a further compulsory elective subject in computer sciences. Greater emphasis is given to computer sciences in the technical secondary program. For more detailed information see the german page.
